Summary
This work introduces readers to cross-tabulation. Cross-tabulation allows researchers to compare the distributions of two categorical variables to see if they are related to each other. This example uses a subset of data from the 2012 General Social Survey (GSS). It presents a cross-tabulation between views people have on the death penalty and whether or not they think that people can generally be trusted. Results from an analysis like this could help researchers understand how people form opinions on sensitive political issues like the death penalty
