Browser add-ons and Preferences
> LibX Deakin Edition
LibX is a browser plugin for Firefox and Internet Explorer that provides direct access to Deakin
University Library's resources. With
LibX you can:
- Search the Library's resources
any time, anywhere using a right-click context menu
Highlight selected text from any web page, right click to bring up a context
menu, then choose to search the Deakin University Library catalogue, or find Library
resources via Google
Scholar.
- More support for off campus users via Library authentication (EZproxy)
Use LibX to re-load a web page page via EZproxy (doing this makes it appear
as though off campus access is from an on-campus location).
- Autolink
Autolink turns International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs) featured
on web pages - such as Libraries Australia, or bookseller websites, such as Dymocks
- into hotlinks. Click the hotlink to search the Deakin University Library catalogue to
see if we hold the title.
- Deakin logo in Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other sites
Search the Deakin catalogue by clicking on the Deakin University logo embedded
in sites such as Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Yahoo! and Google.
- Support for xISBN
With xISBN, you can find books in the catalogue even
when the Library's copy has an ISBN that is different from the ISBN found on
the Barnes & Noble,
Amazon etc. site.
- Enhanced access to Google Scholar
Highlight selected text, then drag and drop the
selection onto the Google Scholar button in the LibXtoolbar, or,
simply enter text into the LibX text box to search Google Scholar directly.
