Summary The story of the prolific American songwriter, Doc Pomus, famous for a succession of hit songs in the 50s and 60s written for Ray Charles, The Drifters and Elvis Presley, amongst many others. Paralysed by polio as a child, he was later able to use crutches and then a wheelchair, whilst retaining an extraordinary passion for life and productivity. Friends, family and fellow musicians line up to contribute to this film, recounting the ups and downs of Doc's dramatic life and his final downward spiral into gambling and destitution.
