Summary Art Nation is an exciting new weekly magazine program presented by Fenella Kernebone that will provide a fun and fascinating ride through Australia's rich arts culture. ABC Arts will be more out-and-about, edgy and culturally diverse than ever before. As well as covering the classics of visual art, music, film, theatre, dance, opera and ballet, Art Nation also mixes it up with cutting edge video arts, multimedia and performance arts. And of course, the much loved design and architecture stories will also be part of the program.A key component of the program is the exploration of issues, ideas, artwork and events from regional and emerging artists across Australia by way of an audience exchange via the Arts Gateway - the new ABC Arts Online website abc.net.au/arts.Fenella Kernabone says "I've been having a lot of fun over the last few years reporting for Sunday Arts, and this year is going to be better than ever with Art Nation. We're out of the studio and travelling the nation, uncovering and discovering all that is compelling in the arts around the country."Not only is the new show exciting, but so is the fact that everything that we do on the show, and more, has an online life through the Arts Gateway. Every day there'll be fresh arts content as well as blogs, analysis, news, video and other places to interact."In the first episode Fenella is off to the Perth International Arts Festival to spend time with the controversial Spanish company La Fura dels Baus. Guest reporter Chris McAuliffe is off to Sydney's Powerhouse Museum to give his take on the exhibition 'The 80s Are Back', and while in Melbourne Reko Rennie meets one of his heroes - French artist Blek Le Rat
