Summary "Succession in Asian Family Firms examines the history and survival of family businesses in the South Asian Diaspora from a truly international perspective. The book presents a unique research across three continents, focusing on significant communities in the UK, USA and Kenya and analysing the influences on both the start-up and the survival of family firms. The book explores how family members negotiate their working practices and how informal sources of social capital such as extended family, friends and community resources influence working dynamics. The discussion provides new perspectives on issues central to the debate on family business succession whilst developing ideas on less familiar areas such as the role and influence of women through different cultural contexts
The theoretical discussion is supported with material drawn from relevant case studies, and the international dimension highlights important differences in family businesses whilst also reinforcing significant similarities that underpin attitudes towards business development within this highly profiled entrepreneurial community."--BOOK JACKET
