Summary |
This is a study in which we traveled to the impoverished areas of the Dominican Republic to test the efficacy of a language-acquisition outreach program for women. We measured the life satisfaction and gender attitudes of women who were part of the outreach program (experimental group) compared to women who were from the same village but not part of the outreach program (control group). To collect the data, we drove around in a van and recruited women who were the same age as our experimental group. Despite adequate planning, unforeseen events required flexibility and revising the experimental design while in the field. In this case report, I explain the results, field research challenges, and provide tips for planning a successful international field research study |
