Summary During this new 13-part series Maeve O'Meara takes you on a journey within your very own kitchen and makes the exotic familiar. In tonight's episode, Maeve explores the world of Portuguese food. Luis Fernandes (Portuguese Charcoal Chicken) shows Maeve a recipe for the famous marinated flattened chicken with piri piri sauce. Caterer Fatima Barroso, who started the first Portuguese restaurant in Australia, guides Maeve through the essential ingredients to make Portuguese food. We also visit the Alves family who make and smoke their own chourico; we then see how baker Carlos Fernandes bakes the traditional bread of Portugal broa made with cornmeal. Maeve meets with young home-cook Andrea De Sousa who whips up a simple delicious salad. Cidalia Rendeiro, who has been making the simple food of her homeland for many decades, shows the easiest, most tender lamb dish using the cheapest cuts of meat.
