Summary "The study described in this volume was undertaken on a volunteer basis by a group of classroom teachers and teaching principals in one of the systems of public schools actively associated lor some three years with the Commission on Teacher Education. The object was to improve their own understanding of the girls and boys they were trying to prepare for the life they would be called on to lead as intelligent citizens. The procedure was not elaborately technical at any stage but simple and practical enough to appeal to similar groups of teachers in other parts of the country. The personalities of living children are revealed along with the methods their teachers progressively took to get at the reasons for some of their actions. The book is both a guide to child study and a contribution to the literature of group work"--Jacket. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2014 APA, all rights reserved)
