Summary |
Tonight, Insight is in Port Augusta just down the road from the Baxter Immigration Detention Centre in SA. Insight is here because it is inside Baxter that Australian resident Cornelia Rau was wrongly held for four months, without receiving proper treatment for a serious mental illness. An inquiry into how Cornelia Rau ended up in Baxter is due to report at the end of May. Her case has thrown a spotlight on what happens inside our detention centres. Shortly, Insight will hear from a former Salvation Army captain who tried to raise his concerns about the health of detainees inside Baxter. But first, let's hear from the locals, politicians, advocates and former detainees who've joined us here at Port Augusta tonight |
