Summary Declining availability of cabinet timbers from Australian native forests has led to increased attention on their cultivation and the management of native forests from which they may be obtained. Blackwood is a species of special interest: It is amenable to cultivation and management, it has an extensive natural range in eastern and southern Australia, it is well suited to high-value products, and it has an established favourable reputation as a furniture timber. Relevant interest groups are widely dispersed in Australia and New Zealand, and there has been no focal point for strategic interaction or exchange of information. The workshop which is the subject of this report is the third in a series intended to bring these interests together and to develop a basis for ongoing interaction and mutual assistance
