Summary This case study investigates women's experiences as they ascend to leadership roles in a rural context; primarily in East Texas, USA. Using a phenomenological study design, the researchers interviewed 20 diverse women currently serving in a leadership role at rural non-profit organizations. This study focused on understanding the experiences of women in top management as they ascended into leadership positions.
