Summary This spectacular series continues with Monty Don heading off on a technicolour tour of India, to complete the third leg of his incredible global journey visiting 80 of the world's most celebrated and stunning gardens, from ancient to modern, large to small, and grand to humble.During his visit he takes in some of the most opulent and heavenly gardens in human history, including perhaps the most famous architectural garden in the world, the Taj Mahal. He travels through the spectacular landscapes of tea country, arid plains and urban mayhem, in his quest to gain insight into India's own epic cultural journey. It leads him from the majestic tomb gardens of the Mughal emperors and the pleasure gardens of the Hindu Maharajahs, to the quaintly nostalgic heritage of the British tea planters and a unique rock and sculpture garden little known in the West. Highlights include: the great Mughal tomb gardens, the sumptuous water palace gardens at Deeg, the Edwin Lutyens-designed garden city of New Delhi, the spice and tea gardens of Kerala and a 1930s throw-back English suburban garden on the site of an old railway station.PRODUCTION DETAILS:10 x 60 minutes.
