Summary |
"Boring? Not Likely! Great characters of Macarthur started in the early 1990s when author Simone Dalton was talking to Macarthur resident Maurie Sullivan about all the people who had great stories to tell. Gradually it expanded from a simple oral history of living locals to a sketch of many lives lived in the Macarthur community from white settlement to about the 1970s. Simone believes everyone has story to tell and ordinary characters of this small town have some extraordinary things to say. Some chapters are based on different times and others on things such as health, education, religion, work and play. Simoneʼs own memories relating to the various chapters are included at the start of each. Boring? Not likely! is a historical document but also a book filled with stories told by Macarthur people about Macarthur people. Details have come from individual memories and stories passed down through the family or friends. Some have come from diaries, newspaper articles and minute books." -- Moyne Shire |
