Summary
Scalds are bare areas of land, relatively impermeable to water formed after the erosion of the topsoil. The successful reclamation of scalds requires the breaking of the surface seal, penetration of water, reduction of salinity and the use of suitable species. Trials in wetter and drier localities of the Mallee to achieve these things are described and their results assessed.
