Summary Documentary on Czech born, Australian based violinist Jan Sedivka. Sedivka and his wife Beryl (born in France) emigrated to Queensland in 1961 before relocating to Tasmania where they took up teaching posts and raised the bar in terms of the standards of classical music instruction. Features interviews with Jan and Beryl, with Jan pouring over ephemera from his past, whilst discussing his history. Other footage includes Jan instructing students, overseeing rehearsals and practicing at home with his wife and colleagues. Explores the notions of what makes Sedivka such a fine teacher and the tradition of passing knowledge through the generations. A former student (now an instructor himself) espouses the virtues of Sedivka's style, praising his contribution to the arts in Australia. Beryl discusses the constancy of their long-standing marriage and her perspectives on Jan's persona. An interesting portrait of a much-admired teacher and musician
