London's Super Tunnel ; Series 2, Episode 1 |
Summary |
This program follows more than 10,000 engineers and construction workers as they fight to stop London's streets caving in or snarling up with traffic. They race to complete the brand new railway directly underneath the city, Crossrail, London's new underground, in time for the first trains to start running. Costing 15 billion pounds, it's the biggest engineering project in Europe. Linda Miller is an engineer who is more at home constructing space launch complexes at Cape Canaveral. She must build what will become Britain's busiest station - Farringdon - an underground structure longer than the Shard skyscraper is tall |
