This film travels across the Andean chain and deep into the Ecuadorian interior to discover the truth behind this elusive animal.A native of South America, a few years ago the spectacled bear was once thought to be a shy, vegetarian animal of the Andean cloud forests. However farmers in the regions where spectacled bears live claim their cattle have been attacked and killed by these animals. But opinions differ wildly and some believe that other than a few insects, the bears are strictly vegetarian.This film travels across the Andes in a quest to discover the truth. Including interviews with farmers and rare footage of the bears and their homes, as we search for the evidence.With three bear experts on the trail - Isaac Goldstein, Armando Castellanos and Rob Williams - travelling across Equador and Peru, they highlight some ground-breaking research into areas where spectacled bears are found and explain why so little is known.Could the growing rarity of the bears' usual food supply be driving them to eat cattle?
