This film tells about two disturbing stories: that of a woman born into a man's body, and that of a man born into a woman's body. Both will struggle to escape unbearable suffering through sex reassignment surgery. Far from caricatures of transsexuals they openly express their inner gender feelings. What kind of love life is possible for someone with a look different from their anatomical sex? What can one expect from surgery? How can one escape that terrible suffering? Where does the essential core of identity lie?
