Summary |
An American family man is accused of attempting to sexually assault his neighbour's teenage daughter. He claims he was sleepwalking. As the trial unfolds, doctors and their patients speak about Parasomnia and the effect it has on their lives.Sleep is an indispensable part of life. While the majority of us are having our batteries recharged, for others, getting to sleep can be something of a nightmare. Sleepwalking, which affects 25% of all children, is just one of 12 major sleep disorders globally known as parasomnia. In that state between waking and sleeping, most parasomniac acts seem irrational and may even raise a smile; but from there to criminal deeds and even murder...Barely studied in medicine, sleep disorders are a tricky enough subject for doctors, but on a legal level, they pose even more of a problem. Protecting parasomniacs from accidents and acts against themselves and others is a major challenge for sleep specialists.By following the trial of a perfect father charged with a sex crime and unravelling the case of a teenager who stabbed his entire family, we plunge deep into the heart of a multifaceted pathology.
