Summary |
Art Nation takes you on a journey to one of the art world's biggest events, the 54th Venice Biennale. The Biennale is one of the few occasions when artists get to strut their stuff for their county. This year a record 89 countries are participating but it's not your predictable expression of nationhood. We catch up with US photographer Gregory Crewdson during his recent visit to Australia. Best known for his elaborately staged, surreal scenes of American homes and neighbourhoods, Crewdson also happens to be one of the hottest names in contemporary art. Stuart Harrison and Simon Knott cast a critical eye over Sydney Tower in our architecture series Good, Bad or Ugly.Melbourne artist Prudence Flint paints women engaging in the simple act of being. And Australian Chamber Orchestra violinist Satu Vanska plays her 280-year-old Stadivarius - which is worth a cool $1.79 million - for us when she drops into the Radio National Breakfast studio |
