Summary Living with the Amish follows six British teenagers as they leave their mobile phones, Facebook accounts and partying behind, and head to Ohio and Pennsylvania to see what they can learn from six weeks of hard work and simple living. No Amish community has ever opened up in this way before, and the Amish families taking part in the series hope that it will reveal the advantages of a pure, uncluttered way of life. The British teens include: Charlotte, 18, a university student from Devon; George, 17, a student at Eton College who hails from Yorkshire; Siana, 19, a Cambridge undergraduate who lives in London; Jordan, 18, a media studies student who lives near Brighton; Hannah, 17, from Hackney is a Christian and street performer; and James, 17, lives in Camden and is a student. In the first episode, the youngsters meet their first Amish family, Jonathan and Marietta, who live in Middlefield, Ohio, home to 14,000 Amish folk. Jonathan and Marietta want to show the teens how rich their lives are, despite their lack of worldly possessions. They believe that the Amish way of life has something to teach everyone, and there is so much more to being Amish than just horse-drawn buggies, beards and barn raising.
