The Hixon Fund was established at the California Institute of Technology in 1938 through a grant from the estate of Frank P. Hixon. Its purpose was the furthering of such scientific endeavor as would increase the understanding of human behavior. These lectures were delivered at the California Institute of Technology, Department of Biology, Pasadena, California, March-May 1950, under the sponsorship of the Hixon Fund Committee.
