Summary *Adult Themes, Coarse Language*Sons and Mothers is an intimate portrait of a group of marginalised men who meet once a week as part of the Men's Ensemble theatre troupe. Led by Alirio Zavarce, a Venezuelan born actor and theatre director, they embark on a year-long creative process to create a theatrical love letter to one of the most important women in their lives - their mother. What unfolds is a poignant and intimate portrait of seven surprising individuals who reveal themselves with honesty, grace, and a healthy dose of irreverence. As they offer their hearts for the sake of a theatre show complications and concerns set in about who will make it to opening night. Through this we learn that unconditional love is a choice some of us have to make. This process documentary follows the rehearsal period and mounting of the show to opening night, verite-style. The film encourages audiences to leave their views of disability at the door and instead, through the eyes of the Men's Ensemble, experience what it is like to be simply human
