Summary Tonight another of our Enough Rope 'on the road' specials, where we visit the Queensland mining town of Mt Isa, and Andrew talks to three of the locals: Glynn Johnston, Kathy Smith and Boyd Curran.Glynn Johnston was earning his living as a boxer... travelling around with his father who had a show. "He had four horses buck jump and he had eight or nine blokes fighting. He said 10 quid, which was a lot of money, if you could beat him in a fight or ten quid if you could ride a horse, his horse, or 10 quid he'd ride your horse, 'cause he was a buck jump fella, broncos, that's his nickname, Bronco."Kathy Smith has lived in Mt Isa for 66 years and works as a fund raiser for the Leukaemia Foundation. Kathy's mum had ten children - the first at age 13 - and despite the handful she already had, would take in battered wives or girls who were pregnant, who had nowhere to go. Last year Kathy was awarded the Order of Australia.Boyd Curran moved to Mt Isa 11 years ago to start a business. He says it's a great place to live, raise a family and do business. He works for an Aboriginal company helping to improve the lives of Aboriginal youth, and had just completed a 450 kilometre cattle drive with 36 young Aboriginal boys.PRODUCTION DETAILS:A Zapruders other films/ABC Co-production Executive Producers: Andrew Denton and Anita Jacoby
