Summary This case study describes the key events that took place before and after the 2010 Greek financial crisis. The main cause of the crisis was the fact that the Greek economy had deep structural problems that had accumulated over the last four decades; these led to the subsequent economic meltdown in the wake of the global crisis. The case puts students in the position of a strategy expert hired by the Greek government to evaluate why the previous government officials failed to predict and deal with the crisis more effectively. It then calls upon students to suggest a strategic plan to guide Greeces financial recovery after the completion of the European adjustment programs
