Summary |
The (4) presentations from the Select Symposium from the 2009 ACSM annual meeting on the importance of early intervention following treatment for breast cancer are included on a single DVD. Sponsored by the Strategic Health Initiative on Women, Sport, and Physical Activity, the DVD is designed to increase the understanding of the side effects related to breast cancer and its treatment. The DVD also reviews the clinical applications of current knowledge concerning musculoskeletal and aerobic rehabilitation immediately after primary treatment for breast cancer. In addition, the DVD explains why some role may exist for intervening even before treatment begins. The DVD offers almost two hour of authoritative information and insights, featuring: Introduction (Laura Rogers), Symptoms and Side Effects Immediately After Primary Treatment for Breast Cancer: Rehabilitation Targets and Barriers (Sheila A. Dugan), Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation for Side Effects and Implications for Long- Term Activity (Marjorie A. King), Aerobic Rehabilitation: What Do Patients Need and How Do We Get Them to Do It? (Laura Rogers) |
