Summary COLONEL CAMPBELL'S WARVideo journalist David Brill is a veteran of dodging gun fire in war zones, but on his recent visits to Afghanistan he's found weapons are being increasingly put aside in favour of diplomacy, and persuading local people to take lawful control of their areas. The 'fight less, talk more' campaign was well under way in Khost Province when David first met US Lieutenant Colonel Robert Campbell for Dateline in September last year. Now, as Campbell finishes his tour of duty, David returns to Afghanistan to find out what the Colonel has achieved, what barriers still remain, and how local villagers are feeling about Campbell's time in their country.DEMOCRACY'S FLAMEProtests are growing in Hong Kong over China's continued refusal to allow full democracy for its seven million citizens... with direct elections ruled out by Beijing until at least 2017.One of the most prominent voices in the recent dissent is 22-year-old Christina Chan. She was only nine when Hong Kong was handed back to China and represents a new wave of young people, nicknamed the Post-80s Generation, with concerns about the region's future. But the campaign by her and many other high profile residents has hit a raw nerve in Beijing, with memories of the Tiananmen Square uprising still fresh in China's mind.Video journalist Adrian Brown takes the political temperature of the city as the debate heats up.INTERVIEW WITH FATHER TOM DOYLEWhile millions of Catholics celebrate Easter, ongoing child sex abuse issues continue to plague the church. With the scandal now engulfing Europe and the United States, many are demanding stronger action from the Vatican, accusing the highest levels of the Catholic church of preferring to protect the church rather than pursue allegations of widespread child sexual abuse. George Negus interviews US-based Dominican Order priest and Canon Law expert Father Tom Doyle, who's been speaking for victims of clerical abuse for more than a quarter of a century. He asks if the Vatican has been a law unto itself for too long, what the Catholic Church needs to do to overcome the scandal and if the Pope can recover from what's seen as a campaign to smear his reputation. International current affairs hosted by George Negus. (An SBS Production) CC WS
