| Summary |
At 146kg, party-loving Carley Brookes loves instant food and refuses to do any exercise. Darran Mansfield who weighs 139kg, has been told by his doctor that he is on the brink of full blown diabetes, yet he's too stubborn to change his unhealthy ways. So will witnessing the effects of living an ultra-lazy lifestyle in Kuwait, and meeting a 323kg recluse have a big enough impact to get these two Brits to radically turn their lives around?Arriving in Kuwait, Carley and Darran are met by their host, super obese Aziz who weighs in at 209kg. Aziz reveals the sad news of his mother's recent death from obesity. He had promised his mother to have a gastro operation to reduce the size of his stomach in order to lose weight. Carley and Darran accompany him to his first appointment at a gastric surgery clinic.They discover that Aziz and his generation have only known a wealthy lifestyle. The Brits are put to work in one of Kuwait's many fast-food restaurants and get a glimpse of how this convenience culture, born out of the country's wealth, has impacted on obesity.The Brits visit a diabetes clinic which specialises in treating infected feet and leg ulcers. One in four Kuwaitis suffer from diabetes due to obesity and poor diet.Carley and Darran see the impact that wealth and obesity has had on one man's life, Saleem. They are shocked by how big and subsequently disabled Saleem is and how his weight and laziness have made him completely dependent on his wife.In a bid to help Aziz lose weight before his gastric surgery, the Brits visit a company which specialises in diet food.
