Summary This week on Artscape, Fenella Kernebone chats to legendary Australian designer Marc Newson.Newson is one of the world's most popular industrial designers. Born in Sydney in 1963, he graduated in jewellery and sculpture at the Sydney College of the Arts back in 1984. Today, with a career spanning over 20 years, Newson has worked for studios in Sydney, Tokyo, Paris and London, and designed everything from chairs, watches and kitchen gadgets to surfboards, cars and jet aeroplanes.Newson is now known internationally as the undisputed star of 'design art'. He even has permanent collections of his work in New York's Museum of Modern Art, London's Design Museum and Australia's Powerhouse Museum. In April this year his iconic Lockheed Lounge again broke world auction records for a living designer selling for over two million Australian dollars.
