Summary |
The contributors to this book link notions of leadership with those of community, Catholic witness and a sense of a Catholic mission. Collectively, the chapters provide an empirical and practical examination of new and contested notions of leadership that have emerged in the international literature. These are subjected to scrutiny in the light of the nature and purpose of Catholic schooling, and are built upon to develop distinctively Catholic notions of educational leadership within Catholic communities. In this sense, conceptions of leadership are seen to be reflected in Catholic schools in ways that are related to ongoing dialogue concerning Catholic authority structures that have been worked through in the Church since the Second Vatican Council. The chapters, in various ways, develop and explicate accounts of the nature of organisational and educational relationships that may lead to the dynamic engagement of all school participants in the creation of an educative, Catholic school community |
