Classical music in video |
Summary |
Six young composers, the heirs to Philip Glass and Steve Reich, are part of a vibrant generation bred from rock music and pop culture. Unlike their predecessors, who see themselves as coming from the classical tradition, they live in an era of permissiveness in which music comes from sources as diverse and unique as world music, Beethoven, and Led Zeppelin. This work was filmed in the composers' studios and at rehearsals and performances. David Harrington of the Kronos Quartet discusses the experience of performing works by these composers |
