Summary The release of pheromones is one of various forms of nonverbal communication many animals use to transmit messages to other members of the same species. Their complex molecular structure allows these chemical messages to contain a great deal of often very specific information. This book provides an overview of recent findings in the field of pheromones and chemical signals in vertebrate and invertebrate species. It includes chapters on how chemical signals work on different species and covers non-mammalian species and mammalian pheremones in general and in particular species
