WHITE REVENGEThe murder of South African white supremacist Eugene Terreblanche has reignited divisions between white and black in a reminder of the country's bitter struggle over apartheid.Zoe de Bussierre reports from Terreblanche's home town of Ventersdorp in the aftermath of the killing, as two black men appear in court charged with his murder. She sees first-hand the hatred between the two communities, which frequently threatens to turn violent. This is a very different side to South Africa from that portrayed at the recent World Cup.WAITING FOR PHILIPAs far as most of the world is concerned, Prince Philip was born in Greece and went on to become Queen Elizabeth's husband, but to the people of Tanna in the South Pacific nation of Vanuatu, it's a different story. They revere him as the human form of an ancestral spirit from the island, who, according to a prophecy, emerged from a volcano and travelled overseas to marry a queen. The Prince Philip Movement probably started after the royal couple visited in 1974 and has been fuelled by gifts of photos sent by Philip.Video journalist Amos Roberts arrives in Tanna as villagers prepare for the Prince's 89th birthday. They believe it's the date of his 'second coming' and a big party is being organised in his honour. But does he arrive? And how will the locals react if he doesn't? A VANISHING PASTThe main threat to archaeological sites might seem to be modern development, but in the Orkney Islands off the north coast of Scotland, it's nature that's threatening to destroy thousands of years of history. These ancient sites have often been revealed by the effects of the wind and rain, but now the severe weather and rising sea levels are literally washing them away. One expert describes it as the worst case of coastal erosion he's ever seen and says the government is spending too little to save the islands' history.Video journalist Nick Lazaredes travels round the Orkneys and asks what can realistically be done to save them for future generations |
