Summary |
Ruane's first feature is a black comedy about a cook at a seedy nightclub who becomes caught up in the death of a Turkish kitchenhand. Set in the inner-urban Melbourne suburb of Brunswick which has a large Greek and Turkish population, the film skillfully integrates ethnic humour into the narrative. It begins episodically in a naturalistic mode only to subtly shift into absurdist comedy with a surreal edge. DVD |
