Summary A tasty treat with the screening of the hilarious and touching, Fat Chance. This one-hour documentary follows a 90kg, pizza binging, single mother who is determined to lose weight and find love before her 50th birthday.Yuka Sekiguchi's weight is the result of multi-cultural assimilation. Abandoning her Japanese lifestyle, her love of "Western" fast food has turned this formerly petite woman into an overweight, pizza loving, beer swilling, Aussie chick. Convinced that once she commits to the cause of losing weight it should be easy, Yuka jumps on the dieting roundabout and prepares to face the devil of deprivation, but soon discovers the concept of "eat less, exercise more" isn't as easy as it sounds. Desperate to reach her goals, Yuka decides to opt for an easier solution - plastic surgery. A brief encounter with a dashing surgeon crushes her hopes of a quick-fix but surprisingly rekindles her interest in the opposite sex. Now eager to meet the man of her dreams, Yuka decides to give herself a make-over and sign up to a dating service. It is clear however, that in order to achieve true happiness she must start her make-over from the inside out. With the help of a psychiatrist, Yuka embarks on a journey inwards to discover what prompts her binging habits, and discovers that she is subconsciously eating to fill a spiritual void. In a bid to overcome this hurdle, she heads home to Japan to reconcile with her mother, her deceased American culture-crazy Dad, and accept her "Japaneseness". In the process she discovers more than her body... she finds herself. (From Australia, in English) (Documentary)
