Summary BORN FREESouth Africans who are too young to remember apartheid are known as the 'born frees'. Now the generation that's grown up in a multicultural democracy is finally coming of age and is old enough to vote in next week's elections. On Tuesday's Dateline, David O'Shea travels to Johannesburg to meet some inspirational born frees, who are determined to shape the future for both themselves and their country. From fashion designers and entrepreneurs to photographers and writers, they show David how they're empowering themselves and making their own opportunities through creative arts. They're not afraid of speaking out and challenging the views of the older generation with their determination to be noticed, but why aren't they excited about casting their vote? And with high crime rates and 55% unemployment for 18 to 25-year-olds, can they really leave South Africa's past troubles behind them? UKRAINE CRISISWhen a team of international observers was kidnapped and a local TV station overrun last weekend by pro-Russia separatists, tension ratcheted up in eastern Ukraine. Dateline's Nick Lazaredes will have the latest from Donetsk on Tuesday's program, as the region becomes the new frontline in the crisis. It's just weeks since a deal was reached in Geneva between Russia, the US and EU to de-escalate tensions in Ukraine following the fight over Crimea. But with little sign of that happening, more sanctions are being put in place against Russia, and the world waits to see its next move.WALK OF SHAME?Tennessee's Walking Horses are famous for their high-stepping walk, but it's the extra high showring steps known as the Big Lick that attract the most attention. In the past they've drawn crowds of spectators and the support of stars like Elvis Presley, but in more recent decades animal welfare campaigners in the United States have exposed cruelty and abuse. In one case, a leading trainer was exposed applying burning liquids and heavy chains to hooves and legs, in a process called 'soring' to force the horses to step increasingly higher. On Tuesday's Dateline, Priscilla Presley tells Mary Ann Jolley that she was naive about the way horses were made to achieve the Big Lick. Now, she's at the forefront of a campaign to stop cruelty to the animals, but she's up against a powerful industry that denies such abuse is widespread
