Summary |
Two ageing - but mythically ageless - gunmen caught out of time in the West where the horseless carriage has arrived, accept one last job - to transport gold. The embittered idealism of McCrea and the worldly, if ultimately honourable, pragmatism of Scott express the divided spirit of the American West. This spirit is severely tested in the course of the journey to the grotesque world of the mining camp and the return from the high country to an archetypal last stand in an autumnal landscape |
