Summary |
The Gates chronicles the intricate process of completing the 7,503 saffron-coloured gates and fabric panels used in project, The Gates, Central Park, New York City, 1979-2005. The project is a site-specific art installation by artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The documentary captures the soaring majesty of the project, along with its impact on thousands of amazed and occasionally sceptical witnesses who flocked to snowy Central Park to experience the art work over the course of 16 days, from the 12th of February, through to the 27th of February 2005.
