Summary |
Set in a house in East Tennessee, surrounded by the woods in what was once the most beautiful place on earth, 'Perish' is textured with poetry and grit. It follows the plight of women in Appalachia and the disappearance of their way of life. When the son of one of the women is kidnapped by her father, she must go back to the woods of East Tennessee to find him, where she is distracted by a mysterious firebird. Claustrophobic and poetic, 'Perish' is inspired by family lore and Appalachian roots. It was first presented in the UK at the High Tide Festival in Halesworth, Suffolk, in May 2012 |
