Summary "Neuropsychologists consult in diverse health care settings, such as emergency care, oncology, infectious disease, cardiology, neurosurgery, and psychiatry. A pocket reference is a critical resource for interns, postdoctoral fellows, and practicing clinicians alike. With over 100 quick-reference tables, lists, diagrams, photos, and decision trees, this handbook offers guidance through the complicated work of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. This new edition of Clinical Neuropsychology builds on the success of the best-selling first edition by adding information on how to use and interpret cutting-edge neuroimaging technologies and how to integrate pharmacological approaches into treatment. The reader will also find new chapters on neuro-oncology, schizophrenia, late-life depression, and adult attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder"--Cover
"The initial goal that had led to the first edition of this book remains unchanged. That is, we hope to provide a ready reference to assist the busy clinician or doctoral-level trainee selecting from among the many hundreds of tests and assessment techniques that are widely available. A principal aim of this reference book is to help guide the clinician in developing tailored, hypothesis-driven approaches for the assessment of patients with a broad range of common neuropsychological syndromes or neurological disorders. As before, this volume is designed for health care providers who need to make examination strategy decisions rapidly while working in the hospital inpatient unit. For the advanced trainee, we hope that this book will prove particularly useful at times when your clinical supervisors are not readily available themselves. This volume should provide for clinical neuropsychology what already exists for most all other medical or health care specialties: a diagnostic guide that fits into the lab coat pocket (I concede that this book may be a bit heavy for some pockets!). Such manuals "for the house officer" (at least one for each specialty) provide a ready source of information to aid in the differential diagnoses of relevant clinical syndromes. With this edited volume, we attempt to provide a readily available handbook for neuropsychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, and practicing clinicians"--Book.
