Nihon Buhin Kaisha America (NBK America) is a subsidiary of Nihon Buhin Kaisha, a multinational Japanese company that manufactures various parts for a Japanese automobile company. After the recent economic collapse in the United States, the American branch failed to meet the production expectations set forth by the Japanese Headquarters. Therefore, it was decided that an American consultant should step in and offer help with examination of organizational culture and organizational development in the work environment. The case presents us with the communication challenges that exist in multinational organizations, and the need for creation of a management plan that satisfies all participants. As we see from the very beginning of the article, the American and Japanese workers and managers value different things |
