Summary |
Pradeepta, the CEO of Nerdiz, is at a point where the future seems quite uncertain for his business. Based in Bangladesh, Nerdiz was the first company there to offer virtual reality (VR)-based learning opportunities through its website. With this service, people can view Nerdiz-created videos on a VR headset or a 360-degree video to give them a realistic experience to enhance learning. Bangladesh's education structure is very static, with an emphasis on textbook classroom learning, so Nerdiz's service is novel in the country. The technology used in Nerdiz's services is also not easily available. While Pradeepta faced those challenges, he was confronted with further obstacles as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic that began in 2020. Pradeepta must make important decisions for Nerdiz to find a sustainable and successful model for his business. Although the case details are specific to the context of a developing country and a VR technology-based start-up, the general principles involved here apply to entrepreneurship, business model, and the opportunities and challenges faced by entrepreneurs worldwide |
