Summary |
Storytelling has long been an inspiration for visual art, and that remains a strong element in the work of artists today. The artists featured in this first episode include Kara Walker, Kiki Smith, Do-Ho Suh and Trenton Doyle Hancock. These four artists tell tales - autobiographical, fictional, satirical, or fantastical - through architecture, literature, mythology, fairytales, and history. Working in a variety of materials, these contemporary artists provoke their audience to think about their own stories, the characters and caricatures, the morals and messages, and the beginnings and endings that define our real and imagined lives |
