Summary |
Explores the role of playing by ear and improvisation in music learning processes. Results of the study suggest that despite willingness by the the teachers to incorporate more playing by ear and improvisation aspects into their music programmes, the compartmentalisation of classroom music into separate areas such as theory, practical work, aural work and history, is not conducive to the aural and creative aspects as suggested in the Arts national curriculum document |
