Summary For more than 50 years, the name most associated with the Sydney Opera House has been Jorn Utzon, the Danish architect whose unconventional 'shell' design is internationally renowned. But few people have heard of Peter Hall, the Australian architect who completed the Opera House after Utzon's resignation.Hall designed the interiors for the building but was ostracised by the architectural community for agreeing to take on what many architects saw as a job for only Utzon.Peter Hall died in 1995, a broken man.Now his son, Willy Hall, wants his father to be recognised for the role he played. And Jorn Utzon's son, Jan Utzon, says both architects should be 'put on a pedestal' for their contributions to the building, which was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007
