THE DISSENTERSAi Weiwei has been acclaimed worldwide for his rebellious artwork aimed at the Chinese authorities, but in his home country he's faced imprisonment and censorship, and even been banned from leaving. Tuesday's Dateline speaks to him about the high price being paid for freedom of expression in China and his determination to keep fighting. Other artists have faced violent attack and eviction from their homes, but Dateline shows that it hasn't stopped a nomadic underground arts scene from thriving. How long can it escape the attention of the authorities? And just how far are the artists prepared to go to in the name of freedom?NO REFUGETwo thirds of the refugees in Lebanon are women and children... many struggling to survive in makeshift refugee camps after escaping from Syria. But Yaara Bou Melhem has found that some women are also facing sexual harassment from men, sometimes as the only way of receiving desperately needed aid. On Tuesday's Dateline, Yaara gains the confidence of the women to hear their distressing stories, and takes their accusations to those involved in arranging aid supplies. She hears stories too of girls being pressured into marriage at a young age as a way of escaping poverty and an uncertain future. THE LAST VOYAGEThe USS Enterprise aircraft carrier has seen service in every major conflict since the early 1960s - up to 60 aircraft can take off from its four and a half acre deck at a rate faster than one a minute. David Brill filmed aboard one of those early missions to the Vietnam War in 1971, and on next Tuesday's Dateline he returns for one of the carrier's last trips before being decommissioned. David's pictures give a fascinating insight into life on the warship then and now and the huge affection US Navy personnel have always had for it. But just as the world's conflicts have changed, so has technology, and now warships like the Enterprise are being replaced with a new breed of aircraft carrier |
