Discusses issues concerning the accuracy of ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics) estimates of the Indigenous population in Queensland; a comparison of ABS estimates of residential population with estimates derived from administrative data sets (school enrolments, hospital births data, Centrelink payments data and Medicare data) revealed that the composite population counts produced higher overall population levels and greater numbers of youth and children than produced by the ABS estimates
