Summary |
The Azande, one of the largest tribes of Africa live in fertile country in south west Sudan but are cursed by disease - malaria, sleeping sickness and dysentery. To the Azande themselves, the most common danger is witchcraft which can blight their crops, spoil their hunting, cause death. Though Christian, they retain a complex system of practices to solve everyday problems such as illness and adultery. Magic and witchcraft are their alternative religions |
