Summary |
This history looks back to an era when, under the guidance of a small group of Aboriginal people, and with support of progressive institutional leadership, staff in the Centre for Aboriginal Studies in the Western Australian Institute of Technology (now Curtin University) developed innovative services and programs that made a real difference in the lives of Aboriginal communities and families. In reviewing events of the beginnings of the Centre for Aboriginal Studies (CAS) we have revisited issues of self-determination and self-management that dominated the political discourses of the time and provided the context in which the Centre and its programs could focus on the particular social and educational needs and aspirations of Aboriginal people. -- Preface |
