Summary |
On May 29, 1985 in the Heysel Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, a tragedy occurred that killed 39 people. Reigning champions Liverpool were defending their title against Juventus, a team who had won every other European trophy available and were eager to claim that last elusive crowing glory. Thousands of fans from both teams from all over the UK, Italy as well as much of the rest of Europe travelled to Brussels to be part of football history. This BBC program charts this tragic event, its aftermath and the continuing debate over the contentious decision made by those in power at the time.
